THE ESTATE

A Private Country Estate

Steeped in history and surrounded by 250 acres of rolling parkland, Ballindoolin House & Gardens is one of Ireland’s most distinctive private country estates. From the elegance of the late-Georgian manor house to the beautifully restored Victorian Walled Garden and repurposed outbuildings, every corner has been carefully preserved to create timeless beauty.

At Ballindoolin, your wedding is about more than a single building; it is about the entire estate. Hidden among mature trees and expansive parkland, it offers complete privacy and a true sense of escape, where couples and guests can relax, celebrate and enjoy every moment together.

Georgian Elegance, Beautifully Preserved

At the heart of the estate stands Ballindoolin House, an elegant late-Georgian country house dating back to 1822. Its graceful proportions, original details and beautifully restored interiors create an atmosphere that feels refined, welcoming and full of character.

Flooded with natural light, the house provides a stunning backdrop throughout the wedding day, from quiet moments before the ceremony to welcoming guests and capturing unforgettable photographs. Fully renovated over several years and completed in 2021, it now sits at the heart of every celebration, blending historic charm with warmth and intimacy.

The Walled Garden: A True Irish Treasure

The beautifully restored Victorian Walled Garden is one of Ballindoolin’s most defining features. Lovingly brought back to life, this two-acre garden offers a romantic setting for outdoor ceremonies, drinks receptions and wedding photography, with herbaceous borders, lavender paths, rose beds, fruit trees and a working kitchen garden.

Restored in 1997 under the Great Gardens Restoration Scheme, the garden was redesigned by renowned horticulturist Daphne Shackleton, who reinstated its classic parterre layout and revitalised its planting. Whether exchanging vows beneath blue skies or simply enjoying the tranquillity of the gardens, it leaves a lasting impression on everyone who visits.

The Garden Room: A Dream Setting for your Wedding Meal

The Garden Room creates a beautiful connection between the historic house, the gardens and the evening celebration. Filled with natural light and overlooking the courtyard and walled garden, it provides a relaxed, elegant setting for your wedding reception and meal.

Its flexible design adapts beautifully throughout the day and works equally well for 60 guests or 120 and beyond. Positioned within the property for a seamless flow between each stage of the celebration, it maintains the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines Ballindoolin.

The Coach House: Historic Character Meets Modern Celebration

As the day turns towards evening, the celebrations continue in the beautifully restored Coach House.

Rich in original character while thoughtfully designed for modern weddings, it provides a warm, atmospheric space where guests come together to enjoy dinner, speeches and dancing long into the night. Your band and DJ have a dedicated space whilst the L shape and set-up to the room means there is equal space for those who are looking to party most seriously, whilst also accommodating those who will enjoy the music and celebrations at a little more of a distance.

Historic stone walls, exposed architectural details and carefully considered lighting create an unforgettable setting that balances heritage with contemporary comfort. It is a space full of personality, perfect for your first dance and to enjoy the night into the early hours of the morning.

County Kildare is World Famous as the home of Irish Horse Racing and breeding with spectacular, serene landscapes. The region's limestone-rich soil doesn't just grow unusually nutritious grass perfect for raising elite, strong-boned thoroughbreds, it also creates a breathtakingly lush, vibrant green countryside. Beyond the gardens and house lies an extraordinary landscape of rolling lawns, mature woodland and open countryside.

The estate's extensive grounds and historic two centuries old Woodland provide countless opportunities for guests to explore, relax and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding them. Throughout the day, couples can wander through tree-lined avenues, discover quiet corners for photographs and take in sweeping views across the Kildare countryside.

The open lawns also provide wonderful spaces for drinks receptions, outdoor entertainment and garden games, allowing guests of all ages to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that makes country estate weddings so memorable.

One of the joys of Ballindoolin House & Gardens is that every part of the estate feels connected. Rather than spending your wedding day in a single room or building, you experience an entire private estate—one filled with history, character and beautiful places to discover.
